The communicative approach to language learning has taught us to reject translation as an appropriate learning strategy and, yet, whether we like it or not, our students engage in translation continuously both in and outside the classroom. Translation is a precious resource which can be used in a variety of ways to enhance and extend language and culture learning.

In this session, we will explore

  • Approaches to translation and their application to language learning
  • Effective use of online translation resources for language learning
  • Using and creating multilingual resources as powerful tasks for language learning

This session is suitable for teachers of languages at any level.
