Program Description

The Maths A2 board games and the maths card games presented in this professional learning support essential mathematics learning, teaching and assessment principles, co-operative learning, thinking skills; student centered learning classrooms, independent learning and differentiation of the mathematics learning environment. The number knowledge in the games ranges from early whole number for 5 year olds through to the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money, some fractions and algebraic thinking for 8/9 year olds.

For older students the number knowledge in the games ranges from early decimal number for 9/10 year olds through to the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, money and algebra understandings for 12/13+ year olds.

The board games and the card games have been developed to reengage disengaged learners in all levels. Teachers, schools and parents from Yr pp – Yr. 12 have used the games for different sets of students based on their needs.

About the Presenter

Richard Korbosky – Teacher, Author and Facilitator of Professional development courses in Mathematics.

Richard has 40 years involvement in Education, having taken up a variety of positions with the Department of Education in WA as a Primary Teacher.

Richard is well-known for his love of Mathematics and has developed a wide range of professional learning opportunities for all Teachers. He brings a wealth of strategies to his workshops, along with an endless amount of energy.
